In early 2019, Dicky Evans, the owner of Cornish Pirates RC made contact with us as his primary business project, the Stadium For Cornwall had stalled due to problems with securing government support and financial backing. Sphere Connect was tasked to use our specialist industry networks and industry expertise to unlock this situation.
The review and recommendations were approved by the senior leadership team and we were further engaged to undertake a range of projects including providing support for the service to develop and implement the opportunities we had identified. These involved aspects of facility improvement, updated programmes of use, a much improved approach to customer engagement and on-site marketing, plus the launch of two new exciting features – the ‘Daniel Jones @ J2’ dance classes, with a view to developing a regional centre of excellence as well as provision for an indoor cycling training facility.
Sphere Connect was enlisted to produce the required document for Sport England, using our specialist knowledge and expertise in this area. We developed a thorough 90-page report, closely liaising with Sport England throughout the process, that received glowing feedback and fully met the criteria. We also attended several meetings at the DCMS to provide our specialist knowledge in support of the Stadium Project lead.
Following submission of our report and the meetings, the Stadium Project received full backing from Sport England and from the DCMS. The required government funding has been promised and the project has been able to proceed.
“I engaged Sphere Connect to help with my flagship project, the Stadium For Cornwall, in 2019. Their ability to access extensive networks and work with key bodies such as Sport England proved critical to our success in progressing the project. I was so impressed that I have engaged SC on further pieces of work and we will have a long-term working relationship with Sphere Connect”.
